Daisy Chain Parade…

Today I’m sharing my finished Mystery Daisy Chain Top Quilt…

This quilt along was hosted by Alison @honeybunnyanddoll . Its been a beautiful quilt to make. I chose Tilda off white solid for the background, available from @grovesltd . Cotton supreme for the Focal and Accent fabric, available from @cottonandsteel, and included some lovely butterfly fabric from the Panorama collection also available from @cottonandsteel

Step one was to cut out all the pieces, I has no clue at this stage how this quilt was going to pan out, but I was pleased with my colour choice

_20190220_110548

I will be honest, the worst part of this quilt was joining all these little squares, I chain pieced them to speed up the process.

I am making the throw size quilt, so I needed LOTS of these, it was a great relief to have them all sewn together, I was super pleased with the joins in the center

dsc_4924.jpg

And my cat kept me company along the way…

dsc_4920.jpg

Over the next few weeks, we were given more clues, and began making more little blocks, but I still couldn’t work out this mystery

DSC_5826

Next came the really exciting part, we began joining the smaller blocks to create these beautiful blocks, and I couldn’t resist playing around with a few ideas to possibly solve the mystery

DSC_5975

No I didn’t guess right, but I absolutely love the finished design

Ta Da!

Ready to quilted, watch this space 🙂

Sofa Sewing Caddy…

Yeah we made it through Monday – happy dance.

Today I wanted to share with you a pattern I designed a couple of years ago, a tutorial I wrote especially for ‘Overdale Fabrics‘. Head over to there online store for all the products used in this tutorial.

_20190319_070034

The perfect accessory for anyone who loves to craft, whether it be, sewing, quilting, knitting or needlecraft, this is must have. Ideal if you like crafting whilst watching TV.

The great thing about this sewing caddy, is all the parts are removable, which makes it easy to interchange pockets, depending on the craft you are working on. Plus, it makes emptying the thread catcher, so much easier.

Materials
Fat Quarter bundle of ‘Garden at Dusk’ by Overdale Fabrics
Half meter of ‘flower Stalks’ by Dashwood Studios available at Overdale Fabrics
Gutermann thread colour 660
Half meter of H640 fusible wadding by Vilieseline
4” square of Vilene light weight interlining
Few handfuls of ‘toy’ stuffing for the pin cushion

Haberdashery Items
Iron-away marker pen
10” and 7” circle template
4” circle template
Quilters ruler, rotary cutter/scissors
Iron
2x 1” wooden buttons
½” wooden heart button

Its a Happy Monday…

Hey, thanks for popping by 🙂

I usually dread Mondays, and this Monday was going to be especially sad, as my boys were heading back to school after half term, and I always miss their company, but this Monday i had some exciting news…

My name was mentioned in the latest Gutermann meeting – they loved my wash bags using the Gutermann Marrakesch fabric collection – Grab issue 59 of Quilt Now magazine to make yours. And they’ve asked me to make some more home projects things for them – i’m thrilled and my heading is buzzing with ideas 🙂

Then came along some more exciting news… I won the beautiful Pincushion Competition that I entered on Instagram. These gorgeous pincushions are made by Rosie Marshall www.instagram.com/rosiescraftcorner, I chose a blue and white one 🙂

Last Friday, Quilt Now issue 60 hit the shops, I’m thrilled to have two of my quilts featured in this months issue.

My ‘spring fling’ quilt, uses the beautiful new collection from @vickyyorkedesigns for @camelot_fabrics called ‘Village Life’.

The other quilt is featuring the new Island Batik fabrics from the gorgeous new collection ‘All a Flutter’ by @kathybrettengle

(photos curtesy of Quilt Now Magazine)

I’ve just about kept up with the ‘Flower Bouquet’ sew-along, hosted by Pat @quilterpatsloan, here are blocks 6,7 and 8

Last week brought with it the start of ‘Daisy Chain’ mystery quilt along, with my fabrics chosen, it was time to begin cutting…

I’m so excited to see what this mystery quilt will look like, head over to Amanda’ Instagram page to find all the details www.instagram.com/honeybunnyanddoll

One big finish this week, was the my Cosy Burgundy Quilt, using a new collection from  Stoffabrics – ‘autumn leaves’.

_20190221_160038

***I quilted it using Vlieseline Cotton mix 80/20 and I’m IN LOVE!!***

Has anyone else used this? I would thoroughly recommend it – so cosy!

Lastly… its almost time for the final reveal of the #sweetestthingssampler, hosted by Dawn at Honeybee Cloths and Myself at CreativeBlonde.

Are you nearly finished?

I went with the QAYG method, and Sunday was spent quilting all my Irish chain blocks.  All the blocks in this quilt are available to download over on

Read all about how I came to love quilting, in this month BP&Q mag…

I was so excited when Helen from the British Patchwork and Quilting magazine approached me about writing an article for one of their regular features in the magazine called ‘First and Last’. The Issue is out today, the article tells you a little about me and how I came to find quilting and fell in love with it…

Also inside is my mini valentine wall hanging quilt pattern, made using some beautiful Batik fabrics

The quilt I talk about as being my last (not my last ever, just the last one I was working on at the time) is a free pattern which you can download here

My Retro Flowers Quilt

Starling Quilt plus WIN a color master bundle/box…

I was so excited to be chosen to take part in making the new Starling Quilt – isnt it a beauty? Its part of the AGF Stitched Series projects.

Screenshot_20190102-185940

AGF Stitched quilts use Art Gallery Fabrics and are mid-level in complexity. Starling measures 52.5” squared – so its a lovely finished quilt size

I’ve used ‘teal thoughts’ from the color master collection.

Prisma elements pearl & silver, and Prisma elements sapphire sparkle metallic.

_20181231_134206

This is the top quilt finished, i decided to alternate the slightly plainer fabrics with the more patterned fabrics as they rotated around the star

I love brown and teals together, so i wanted to grab a photo with my boots (slightly bizarre i know) but then my cat wanted a piece of the action
