Its a Happy Monday…

Hey, thanks for popping by ūüôā

I usually dread Mondays, and this Monday was going to be especially sad, as my boys were heading back to school after half term, and I always miss their company, but this Monday i had some exciting news…

My name was mentioned in the latest Gutermann meeting – they loved my wash bags using the Gutermann Marrakesch fabric collection – Grab issue 59 of Quilt Now magazine to make yours. And they’ve asked me to make some more home projects things for them – i’m thrilled and my heading is buzzing with ideas ūüôā

Then came along some more exciting news… I won the beautiful Pincushion Competition that I entered on Instagram. These gorgeous pincushions are made by Rosie Marshall www.instagram.com/rosiescraftcorner,¬†I chose a blue and white one ūüôā

Last Friday, Quilt Now issue 60 hit the shops, I’m thrilled to have two of my quilts featured in this months issue.

My ‘spring fling’ quilt, uses the beautiful new collection from¬†@vickyyorkedesigns¬†for¬†@camelot_fabrics¬†called ‘Village Life’.

The other quilt is featuring the new Island Batik fabrics from the gorgeous new collection ‘All a Flutter’ by¬†@kathybrettengle

I’ve just about kept up with the ‘Flower Bouquet’ sew-along, hosted by Pat @quilterpatsloan, here are blocks 6,7 and 8

Last week brought with it the start of ‘Daisy Chain’ mystery quilt along, with my fabrics chosen, it was time to begin cutting…

I’m so excited to see what this mystery quilt will look like, head over to Amanda’ Instagram page to find all the details www.instagram.com/honeybunnyanddoll

One big finish this week, was the my Cosy Burgundy Quilt, using a new collection from¬†¬†Stoffabrics – ‘autumn leaves’.

***I quilted it using Vlieseline Cotton mix 80/20 and I’m IN LOVE!!***

Has anyone else used this? I would thoroughly recommend it – so cosy!

Lastly… its almost time for the final reveal of the #sweetestthingssampler, hosted by Dawn at Honeybee Cloths and Myself at CreativeBlonde.

Are you nearly finished?

I went with the QAYG method, and Sunday was spent quilting all my Irish chain blocks.  All the blocks in this quilt are available to download over on

My First Video…

Hey,

Thanks for coming along with me on this journey… last year when i became an island batik Ambassador, I was asked to make an un-boxing video “WHAT?” I said, with my first initial thoughts being how do I get out of this…

Big confession alert!!!

I didn’t do one, instead I watched in ore at all the other ambassadors doing there un-boxing videos, they all did such a fabulous job.

This year when I received the news that I was a 2019 Island Batik Ambassador, my husband took control, he said there was no getting out of it this year, and he began coming up with ideas on how to edit my video, I will admit his ideas were a little crazy, and I was keen to shy away from making the video, but i DID it, and here it is…

Please note I’m extremely shy, and nervous in this video, my cat is there for moral support.

This AccuQuilt cutting machine is AMAZING, I’ve really enjoyed playing it so far. Follow me on my journey this year, to see what i create with it.

Free Pattern…

Hey guys,

Thanks for stopping by again (I know two posts in as many days) but I’m really excited to share this table runner tutorial with you…

_20190121_111248

This was first time I’ve quilted using¬†Bosal double sided fusible foam, and I love it, its brought a beautiful texture to my table runner. Using this stunning fabric from stoffabrics, added the perfect pattern for quilting.

These tiny dresden plates measure just 4 1/2″ in diameter – thats small, right? These were made for the #tinydresdenparty2019 hosted by Deidra¬†@quiltyobsession

Island Batik Blog Hop…

Welcome to Day 2 of the Island batik Blog hop – Getaway (destination, travel themed).

_20181231_182433

The new collection I’ve been very fortunate¬†to of been given by island Batik, as part of the Ambassador program was called¬† ‘DITTY‘ – and I LOVE it!! what a stunning collection!!

I’m not going to lie, this quilt alone took me on a journey of its very own… With Christmas and New Year celebrations done and dusted, I knew i was one of the first on the blog hop list, so time wasn’t on my side… my thoughts immediately went to beach huts, but after much designing, i realized it was not going to work with no blue fabric in the collection… so i pulled out my laptop and loaded up EQ8…

Kaleidoscope Pattern… Ta Da!! ‘What?’ I hear you ask, ‘how does this fit the theme?’,

Well let me explain…¬† when looking through the patterns, I came across the¬†Kaleidoscope Pattern, my 8 year old son said to me, whats a Kaleidoscope? so i asked my eldest son, who immediately reached for his Iphone to google it! he then replied with, ‘it must be one of those 80’s kids toys’…

Can you still buy them?

Anyway, as i tried to explain how it worked, i realized that when you look into a Kaleidoscope it takes you on a special journey all of it own, creating patterns and stories of what the patterns look like, its definitely part of my childhood journey, and one i was able to share with my children… I’m not sure it will ever beat an Iphone or Xbox, but I loved my Kaleidoscope

I wanted to keep the inner layer quite neutral, with the addition a few colours, so i could leave the outer edge for the oranges and yellows. ‘y’ seams are not my friend, but i was determined not to be beaten

_20190103_145114

With the inner layer complete, I started to play around with the fabrics till I happy with the outer layer

I’m so happy with the way this turned out, I definitely want to make another version in the near future, if only to concur my fear of ‘y’ seams…

I will be writing a tutorial for this quilt, so be sure to follow me here on my blog, so I can keep you updated.

Also I just recieved the most amazing news, Im going to be a 2019 Island Batik Ambassador, so I will be sharing lots more beautiful batik makes.
