I have created a 50″ x 50″ modern quilt, using these stunning fabrics, Aurifil thread and Hobbs batting.

Here are a few little sneaky peeks of the quilt, arent the colours just beautiful?

This quilt is made up of 16 blocks, but its when you bring the blocks together, is when the magic appears, I really love the fun, super charged pin wheels in this pattern.

This quilt is also one the first quilts to have one of my new labels sewn on…

Models at the ready…

I’ve had such an exciting week, and have some BIG HUGE MASSIVE news, that I can share with you all very soon.

I put a request out for newborn models and male models (its a tough life, but someone has to do it 😉 ) sadly due to Covid19, I wasn’t able to take the photos myself and steal cuddles at the same time, but…

The most gorgeous little boy called Finley modeled my new natural collection from my newborn gift sets. This beautiful gift set includes a matching personalised bib, cosy outdoor hat, animal Birch wood teething ring, adjustable bandana, bunting with baby’s first name and ‘cuddles’ the soft toy. All created using the new natural collection.

This gift set along with others in the newborn range are available to order from here on my website. Head over to the ‘newborn gift set’ page. All made to order, and personalised with baby’s first name.

I received some amazing photos of my ties too, these ties make great gifts for the men in your life, to celebrate a new job, birthday, fathers day, wedding , and anniversary. They are all made to order, and can be personalised with a name, monogram or short message.

Please feel free to spread the word about my newborn gift sets and men’s ties, thanks for supporting my small business

Take care, stay safe and enjoy the sunshine (if you can find it)

Personalised Newborn Gift Sets….

Do you have a special arrival on his/her way? or know someone who does? why not send them a really special gift to know you’re thinking of them, especially during this pandemic.

And with every box sold, I will make a donation to the charity I work for https://www.pyjamafairies.org/.

“Pyjama Fairies is the only UK charity to make pyjamas and surgical gowns specially designed for babies and children up to age 16 having surgery or any other associated medical test.

Each garment is made in colourful, age-appropriate fabric and is designed to minimise discomfort when medical intervention is necessary. Your child can remain fully dressed, safe and warm whilst being examined and throughout their stay in hospital.

While other great organisations focus on research and finding a cure, we work to improve the quality of life of children and their families as they undergo surgeries and treatment.

Pyjama Fairies mission is to make hospital stays easier for children and their families.”

Choose from one of my four Personlised Newborn Gift Sets – Essential, Essential special, Premium and Luxury. Be sure to add the name you would like embroidered on the items, in the ‘Instructions to seller’ part of the Paypal transaction page. Include your chosen colour combination.

(please contact me directly if you don’t see an option you would like, and I will be more then happy to put your bespoke order together for you)

All items will be wrapped in soft tissue paper, and tied with ribbon – making it a super special gift to receive for any new parent.

Medallion Quilt challenge…

This challenge is the last one for all the 2020 Island Batik Ambassadors, and is also the first time I’ve made a Medallion Quilt.

I wanted to use what I had left from the ‘Tread Brightly’ collection by @bellanonnaquilt for @island_batik.

“A medallion Quilt is made of a central motif surrounded by multiple borders. … The center and borders can be pieced, appliqued, or embroidered, in any number of combinations.”

I really wanted something striking for my central motif, so I designed this star… and I was super pleased with how is turned out. I do love a crisp sharp point…

It was time to add my first border, I went with something simple, so as not to detract from the center star. I used the gorgeous Cobblestone – Forest, from the Tread brightly collection.

My next border I wanted to be eye catching, so I decided on some Flying Geese. I wanted it to appear as they were moving around the centre star, so I arranged them in groups of 6.

qrf

My final boarder was another simple stripe, using the Cobblestone – Pinecone, from the Tread brightly collection.

I used Hobbs Cotton batting inside, and backed my Medallion Quilt with a lovely Vanilla – neutral from Island Batik.

I decided on a bit of crazy binding, which I thought would complete this quilt perfectly, I chose Texture Stripe – Marble from the Tread Brightly collection.

Would to love to know what you think of my first Medallion quilt, please leave me a comment, they really do make my day.

Wishing each and everyone of you a really special Christmas, and I hope you get to spend time with those that mean the most to you.

Roald Dahl – The Witches…

Do you remember reading the book? well Craftcotton have just released a collection of Roald Dahl fabrics… I couldn’t resist turning some of them into a cute satchel

‘You really are a very clever little mouse’ fabric was just too cute to not use as the main outer fabric, I added the frogs for the pocket, and the Witches for the lining.

This pattern is available from Debbie Shore ‘Satchels’ book, with templates and really easy to follow step-by-step instructions.

To see how I used the ‘Witches’ fabrics, download my tutorial, at the link below

Beat The Heat Blog Hop

click the link below to win a pre-cut bundle of Garden Party by Kathy Engle.

IB

www.rafflecopter.com

In Box 1 I received ‘GEARED UP’ a stunning collection of Autumnal colours; golds, browns, rusts, blacks and yellows. All with the most amazing prints of chains, cogs and gears

DSC_7590

The idea I has for the quilt was obvious, it just had to be a quilt with gears…

I began by cutting lots of 8″ squares from the lighter fabrics, and after sewing them together in a random order, I started making my gears from the black prints…

dsc_7591.jpg

I had such fun making the gears, and they were so simple to make, each gear is drawn onto the paper side of Vlieseline Bondaweb, then fused to the chosen fabric, and cut out. Once happy with the placement, peel away the backing paper, fuse using a dry heat to the top quilt and free motion quilt round each one.

I used the beautiful super strong No.50 Gutermann threads, from the denim professional jeans thread pack. I changed my machine needle to a Hemline ‘Top Stitch’ needle.

I was super pleased with the look of the stitches. The quilt is made using Hobbs Heirloom Cotton Batting.

Island Batik Blog Hop…

Welcome to Day 2 of the Island batik Blog hop – Getaway (destination, travel themed).

_20181231_182433

The new collection I’ve been very fortunate to of been given by island Batik, as part of the Ambassador program was called  ‘DITTY‘ – and I LOVE it!! what a stunning collection!!

I’m not going to lie, this quilt alone took me on a journey of its very own… With Christmas and New Year celebrations done and dusted, I knew i was one of the first on the blog hop list, so time wasn’t on my side… my thoughts immediately went to beach huts, but after much designing, i realized it was not going to work with no blue fabric in the collection… so i pulled out my laptop and loaded up EQ8…

Kaleidoscope Pattern… Ta Da!! ‘What?’ I hear you ask, ‘how does this fit the theme?’,

Well let me explain…  when looking through the patterns, I came across the Kaleidoscope Pattern, my 8 year old son said to me, whats a Kaleidoscope? so i asked my eldest son, who immediately reached for his Iphone to google it! he then replied with, ‘it must be one of those 80’s kids toys’…

Can you still buy them?

Anyway, as i tried to explain how it worked, i realized that when you look into a Kaleidoscope it takes you on a special journey all of it own, creating patterns and stories of what the patterns look like, its definitely part of my childhood journey, and one i was able to share with my children… I’m not sure it will ever beat an Iphone or Xbox, but I loved my Kaleidoscope

I wanted to keep the inner layer quite neutral, with the addition a few colours, so i could leave the outer edge for the oranges and yellows. ‘y’ seams are not my friend, but i was determined not to be beaten

_20190103_145114

With the inner layer complete, I started to play around with the fabrics till I happy with the outer layer

dsc_0165

I’m so happy with the way this turned out, I definitely want to make another version in the near future, if only to concur my fear of ‘y’ seams…

I will be writing a tutorial for this quilt, so be sure to follow me here on my blog, so I can keep you updated.

Also I just recieved the most amazing news, Im going to be a 2019 Island Batik Ambassador, so I will be sharing lots more beautiful batik makes.
