I wish you a merry quilt-a-long (so far…)

I’m taking part in a fantastic quilt along, hosted by a group on Facebook -‘ i wish you a merry quilt-a-long’ Made up of 12 blocks, using a variety of techniques, which are different in each block, and id thought id share my blocks so far, its not too late to join, and the prizes are amazing.

Block 1:  Released 1st august by Vanda at ‘quilt in piece’ Each pattern is free, and comes with a great tutorial to guide you through each technique.

Here is mine… One of my favorite techniques – applique using blanket stitch, the sheen on the gutermann thread, give this an extra magical effect.

Block 2: Released 15th August by Janda bend quilts

This block was created using paper piecing, i love the simplicity of this one…

I was so keen to photograph my first two blocks together, the hardest thing was finding some Christmas decorations as props in august!!

Block 3: Released 29th August by Laura at ‘slice of pi’

I love this patchwork block, i came to the conclusion because of the fabric i chose, its more suitable for Mrs Santa Claus, then the man himself !

Loving how my first three blocks are looking together so far… and i even found a new prop from my kids bedroom – yay!

Block 4: Released August 29th by Jennifer at ‘the inquiring quilter’ – yep it was a double block week… Double the Christmas stitching fun

Loving these applique templates, took me a while to decide on the fabrics, but i’m happy with the results, and i got to use favorite blanket stitch again

My first four blocks…

Block 5: Released 12th September by Sherry at ‘powered by quilting’

I was surprised at how enormous this snowman came out, no Christmas quilt would be complete with a snowman though… I gave him a cheeky grin and a hat to be proud of.

Blocks 1-5 completed… I’ll admit i’m slightly lacking in the Christmas prop department in this photo

Block 6: Released 26th September by Sandra at ‘Sandra Healy Designs’

I was apprehensive about this block, but ended up really enjoying it, adding the blond hair, and my own Halo !

Half way done… i’m so pleased with the way this quilt is coming together, and so looking forward to the next 6 blocks

I was over the moon to of won one of the amazing prizes too… I know its just picked at random, but i was chuffed to bits, first time I’ve ever won anything.

Block 7: Released 10th October by Sandy at ‘Sandy star designs’

Block 8 : Released 10th October by ‘slice samuels quilt co’

Its another double block week – still time to get involved 🙂

Thanks for reading, happy quilting
