Distressed wood effect

What you’ll need:

  • Interior tongue and groove cladding untreated 2.4mx95mmx7.5mm
  • Dark oak hard wax oil
  • Pebble or similar shade of kitchen & bathroom paint
  • Fine sandpaper
  • Saw, tape measure, marker and hammer


Apply the dark wax oil with a brush, in the direction of the grain, allow to dry overnight.

Add two coats of the paint, leaving each coat to dry before applying the next.



Leave overnight, then take the sandpaper and rub along the grain, this will show up the grain and give you the distressed look.

Cut to required length and use tongue and groove tacks to hold in place.
